PAINTWEAR: AN EXHIBITION CELEBRATES THE 70TH ANNIVERSARY OF TEXTILE MAKEUP
The company, with its brands Alpina, Boglietti, and Julipet, is celebrating this important milestone with an exhibition of works specially created by artist Giulio Zanet using regenerated fabric from pjs. On display from June 24th at the "A. Olmo" Civic Museum in Savigliano, some of the artworks will also be auctioned off, with proceeds going to the non-profit organization Oasi Giovani.
Trucco Tessile, a company founded in 1952 by brothers Giorgio and Piero Trucco, already involved in the family business in the textile and clothing sector,
celebrates its first 70 years in 2023, focusing on the valuable elements that have marked its growth and development over the years.
This significant milestone was achieved not only by the growing demand for sleepwear since the 1970s, but also by the brilliant intuition of Giorgio Trucco, one of the first in Italy to develop the innovative concept of knitted pajamas, and by the acquisition of one of the most important Italian companies in the sector—MMT of Turin—which produces a wide range of Alpina-branded underwear.
In the years that followed, the Savigliano-based company took a series of further steps that marked its rise: the acquisition of the Ghiro brand, the development of an international export and distribution strategy that began in the 1990s, participation in the most specialized trade fairs, and the addition of Boglietti Spa to its portfolio in 2014 with the brands Boglietti, Kristal, and Stefania Canavesi, and, in 2019, Julipet. " We always look to the future while thinking about the past, knowing that our history is our strength and that investments in innovation and research will carry us into the future. 'Tradition and quality,' today as in the past, is our slogan, characterized by the creation of garments with the best quality-price ratio, the use of high-quality raw materials, and extreme care in both the manufacturing process and the final product presentation ," explains Agostino Trucco, Sales Manager at Trucco Tessile.
On the occasion of its seventieth birthday, Trucco Tessile organized the “Paintwear” exhibition (Civic Museum “A. Olmo” in Savigliano, from June 24th to July 9th, open to the public on June 25th, June 30th, July 1st, July 2nd, July 7th, July 8th, and July 9th) consisting of 15 works created by the artist Giulio Zanet, who used the fabric of the pyjamas produced by the company as an expressive material.
"If the use of fabric is the thread that binds every project," Zanet explains, "the search for balance is the inspiration that drives the different works. All my work tends in this direction: starting without ever knowing exactly what will happen and delving into creative chaos, hoping to find some sort of solution, is what drives me. In reality, however, the solution we find never solves anything; rather, it presents new questions that force us to explore other paths, which generate new works ."
A virtuous circle that has also seen those who choose Trucco Tessile brands at the forefront. "From the beginning of the summer until the end of last year, we asked our customers to return their used pajamas to us, either directly to our Alpina-branded stores or, in the case of Boglietti and Julipet, as returns at the company. To encourage them, we offered them a discount on future purchases, " Trucco explains. Of the many unique works created by Zanet, five will then be auctioned off, with the proceeds going to the non-profit organization Oasi Giovani in Savigliano.
The initiative, the brainchild of a group of students from the University of Turin's Faculty of Economics, aims to spread the culture of quality that defines Trucco Tessile's products in an unconventional yet value-driven way. " Organizing an exhibition not only thrilled us, but also allowed us to establish our presence in the area, highlighting some of its most iconic locations. We hope this exhibition will be of interest to residents, tourists, and textile enthusiasts alike. We believe the decision to donate the proceeds from the auction to the Oasi Giovani is a clear social responsibility," concludes Trucco.
